CIO Executive Meeting

The changing role of CIOs and their IT organizations was the focus of the September 2003 IMF CIO Executive Forum in Boston. Member case studies illustrated the evolution of IT organizations from reactive ‘business enablers to proactive change agents. Presentations of research findings also addressed the evolution of the CIO role and changing expectations of the IT workforce of the future.

Three main discussion themes emerged from this discussion:

1. Reducing the Cost of IT Operations
2. Focusing on External Customers
3. Managing the People Implications of Change
