Given this, IT Finance professionals must become skilled at evaluating and making sound investments in the technologies that will support their corporate strategy.

This presentation and follow-up workshop will review the historical progression of financial data management and the IT transformation that is required to support a possible SEC mandate on XBRL compliance. This discussion will unbundle the way we look at the tools traditionally used in the enterprise, and will guide the group through a practical "XBRL Primer 101 for IT Finance leaders" (those who bring a laptop will/can follow along in workshop style!). IMF Benchmark Database Snapshot: Examining IT Delivery Trends for their True Impact
Every company has heard countless stories from technology vendors about the expected costs savings that their product(s) are intended to provide. Every company has probably also looked back on an implementation or two to realize that, either positively or negatively, the expected and the actual ROI are very different. This presentation, based upon recent data in the IMF benchmarking database, will examine the real-world impacts of several recent trends in IT service delivery strategy. Does virtualization really reduce overall costs? Is the investment in an IP telephony solution more costly in the long-run? Has the trend towards longer desktop refresh cycles saved money, or is the increase in maintenance costs outweighing the benefits of decreased acquisition costs? These questions and many others will be discussed, in order that attendees can obtain valuable information to compare the technology delivery strategy of their own organizations to those within the benchmarking database.

TCO Model for Standardizing Disparate IT Devices
Due to the success of products like Macintosh's, iPhones and consumer based PCs, Business Units and IT users are demanding more and different devices due to this "consumerization" impact on IT services. Unfortunately Corporate IT has been traditionally tasked with standardization which drives efficiency (maximize TCO) which is in conflict with what users are demanding. Michael Bender will discuss the approach Cisco is taking to manage/optimize the CFO/shareholder TCO impact versus the needs/wants of the users.
