Mon Apr 29, 2002 - Tue Apr 30, 2002
IT Workforce Planning
Although the number of open requisitions is down in most organizations, turnover, hot skills, merg rs and
acquisitions, and the continued widespread use of contractors has kept workforce planning near the top
of IT HR's issues list. This makes ef fective workforce planning cru cial to the IT organization' s ability to
execute its strategies and be responsive to the rest of the organization. Our discussions on this opic will
include skill and competency assessments, gap analysis, training requirements planning and managin
contractor resources.
IT Internship Programs
Effective IT Internship programs have proven their worth to the organizations that have them. They are a source of skilled resources for critical projects, an excellent vehicle for developing mentors and
managers, and ultimately a pool of new hires ready and able to hit the ground running. What are the
characteristics of a good internship program? What makes a good intern? What are the interns looki g
for out of the program? We will discuss these and other issues around IT Internship programs with
organizations that have had success with their programs.
Compensation - Issues and Update
The economy has made compensation in IT a very cloudy issue. Companies are trying to de termine t e
appropriate strate gies, given their industry and geography's economic climates. What are the impac ts,
locally, of national and global economic conditions and trends? We will discuss what organizations are
doing in this environment and review the latest salary survey data to see what it reveals.
These discussion top ics will be led by prac titioners from or ganizations that are addressing
these is sues. The format is highly interactive and all view points and opinions are heard
and considered. Frequently these discussions shed new light on existing initiatives and
spawn ideas for innovative approaches to evolving challenges. We look forward to having
you join us at this meeting.
