Rising system costs and the inflexibility of duplicative, mismatched systems make it difficult for IT to respond quickly to changing business needs. At the same time, ongoing cost pressures make this a poor time to be proposing large investments in technology rationalization. Fortunately, new tools and approaches are creating new opportunities to build incrementally toward a coherent architecture, but as usual, it can be difficult to separate reality from vendor hype.

At this one-day meeting, senior IT executives shared their experiences implementing their own IT architecture initiatives, focusing on three areas:
