Edgar Escobar has served as a CIO and, more recently, a CEO. He will lead us through a discussion on why Cyber teams often don’t get the full respect they deserve and what can be done. Cybersecurity is widely seen as critical, yet it rarely holds a consistent seat at the executive decision-making table. Too often, it enters the conversation through incidents, alerts, compliance issues, and operational friction, framing security as a cost, a constraint, or a disruption. This narrative trains boards to view cybersecurity as episodic risk management rather than a continuous contributor to business value.
To change that, security leaders must shift from threat-based storytelling to value-based conversations. When cybersecurity is tied directly to revenue continuity, customer trust, operational resilience, and speed to market, it becomes a strategic enabler rather than a technical necessity. This session explores how CISOs and CIOs can reframe cybersecurity to align with executive priorities — transforming security from a reactive function into a driver of growth, confidence, and competitive advantage.
